COLUMBUS, IN (November 3, 2025) - Monday afternoon, Coach Eddie Vogel announced his resignation as the head football coach at Columbus East High School. Coach Vogel’s time leading the Olympians ends after five seasons. Coach Vogel first came to the Olympians as defensive coordinator under Bob Gaddis, earning IHSAA state championships in 2013 and 2017 and a state runner-up finish in 2016. He became the head coach in 2021. In his career at East, Vogel coached more than 50 All-Conference and All-State student-athletes. “Coach Vogel has positively impacted many student-athletes during his time with the Olympians. Eddie has represented our school and community with the utmost professionalism,” Athletic Director David Miller said. “Few people are more dedicated to Columbus East than Coach Vogel. We are forever grateful for the time, effort, and leadership Coach Vogel has devoted to our students.” East will begin a rigorous search process for the next head football coach in the coming days. “The school remains committed to building upon the program’s strong foundation and providing student athletes with an outstanding experience,” Miller said. Eddie Vogel will continue to serve the students of East High School as the chair of the Math department.
