Angel Mounds — The Columbus East boys and girls cross-country teams capped their 2025 seasons Saturday at the IHSAA Evansville Regional, hosted by Mater Dei High School at the Angel Mounds course. For the Olympian boys, junior Norman Dickson led the effort, running a steady race to place 45th overall in 16:29.2. Sophomore Riley Wilson followed in 17:30.9 for 109th, and senior Elijah Clore closed his East career with a 116th-place finish in 17:33.7. On the girls’ side, sophomore Ainslee Shaw paced Columbus East with a 84th-place finish in 21:16.4. Junior Elizabeth Sztaba crossed in 22:14.7 for 137th, and junior Abigial Collins finished in 23:26.5, placing 197th. While no East runners advanced to the state finals, both squads gained valuable postseason experience in a deep field loaded with state-ranked competition. The performances at regionals capped a fall of steady improvement for both programs, setting the tone for continued progress next season. Bloomington South’s Lexi Kollbaum captured the girls individual title in 17:32.7, while Springs Valley’s Calvin Seitz won the boys race in 14:53.5.
