The Columbus East Olympians' volleyball season came to a close on Thursday night as they fell to the host school, Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs, in the opening round of the 2025 IHSAA Volleyball Sectional. The Olympians battled and kept the sets competitive, but the Olympians dropped the match in straight sets: 25-17, 25-20, 25-18. The defeat ends the season for the Olympians, who finish the year with an 11-19 record. Franklin Comm. had previously defeated East in a four-set match way back in late August. Though the final score wasn't what they hoped for, several Olympians delivered notable performances. Defensively, Krea Martin led the team with nine digs and contributed offensively with two aces. At the net, Izzy Rice paced East's attack with six kills. Kenlee Gault directed the offense, recording 13 assists for the night. The team's senior leadership was evident in the final outing. Anika Jenkins was a force on defense, tallying three blocks, while also adding three kills. Lilah Klei contributed across the board with five kills, one block, and one ace. Chloe Gill also made her presence felt, posting three kills and one ace. Other key contributors included Payten Osborn, who finished with nine assists and six digs, and Addy Dean, who chipped in three kills and one block. Kadence Miller notched four digs and one ace, and Cadence Smith added a block. A Final Thank You to Our Seniors The conclusion of the season marks the end of an era for three pivotal members of the Columbus East squad. We extend our deepest gratitude to seniors Chloe Gill, Lilah Klei, and Anika Jenkins for their dedication, leadership, and hard work throughout their time as Olympians. Their commitment to the program will leave a lasting impact, and we wish them the very best in their future endeavors. Thank you Olympians for a memorable season!
