The Columbus East volleyball team wrapped up its regular season Thursday night in the Orange Pit, taking on one of the state’s premier programs in Class 3A No. 2 Roncalli. The Royals showed why they’re among Indiana’s best, earning a 25-13, 25-10, 25-18 victory over the Olympians. Although the outcome didn’t favor East, the team battled through each set and continued to show the effort and unity that have marked their season. The Olympians spread the offensive load, with several players contributing to the attack. Anika Jenkins found openings at the net to record multiple kills, while setter Kenlee Gault kept the ball moving with a steady hand in distributing the offense. Defensively, East stayed active throughout the night. Back-row leader Krea Martin came up with several key digs to keep rallies alive, and both Lilah Klei and Cadence Smith made their presence felt at the net with solid blocking. Payten Osborn also added a spark with a service ace and consistent play on the back line. Now, with the regular season in the books, the Olympians turn their focus to the 2025 IHSAA Sectional at Franklin Community High School. East opens tournament play on Thursday, October 16th at 6 p.m. against the host Grizzly Cubs, hoping to make a strong postseason statement. Thanks for a hard-fought regular season, Olympians — and best of luck as Sectionals begin!
