The Columbus East girls soccer team saw its season come to a close Thursday night in the IHSAA Sectional semifinals at Greenwood High School, falling 13-0 to a strong Center Grove squad ranked No. 6 in Class 3A. Center Grove came out quickly, setting the tone with an early goal and maintaining steady control throughout the match. The Olympians worked to stay organized defensively and continued to compete despite the Trojans’ fast pace and precision on the attack. Though East wasn’t able to generate much offense, the team stayed engaged and played hard until the final whistle. The effort reflected the group’s resilience during what has been a demanding season against several of the state’s top programs. While the results didn’t always go their way, the season offered growth and experience for a young roster that will look to build on its foundation moving forward. Thanks you Olympians and good luck Seniors!
