New Whiteland, IN — The Columbus East boys soccer team gave everything it had in Tuesday night’s IHSAA Sectional 13 opener at Whiteland High School, but an early surge from Center Grove proved too much to overcome as the Olympians fell 4-2, ending their 2025 season. The Trojans struck quickly, netting three goals in the first half to build a commanding 3-0 advantage by halftime. Despite the early deficit, East regrouped and showed its trademark resilience after the break. Center Grove extended the margin to 4-0 in the 53rd minute before the Olympians mounted a late push. Senior Jonathan Sylva broke through in the 72nd minute, driving home a shot from the right side to get East on the board. Moments later, Ronan Maier added another, connecting from about 13 yards out to trim the lead to 4-2. The Olympians kept the pressure on in the closing minutes but couldn’t find another goal to close the gap. Columbus East finishes its season with a 10-6-1 record, highlighted by a Hoosier Hills Conference championship, strong team chemistry, balanced scoring, and steady play from a mix of veterans and emerging underclassmen. Though the loss stings, the Olympians’ late effort against a tough Center Grove squad reflected the grit and growth that defined their 2025 campaign. Thank you Olympians for a GREAT season and good luck Seniors!
