The Columbus East boys soccer team delivered one of its grittiest performances of the season Tuesday night, going on the road to earn a 2-0 win over Floyd Central in a pivotal Hoosier Hills Conference matchup. Senior forward David Sylva put the Olympians on the board early, and Christian De Dios sealed the win with a second-half strike off an assist from Farid Garcia Renteria. Head coach Sam LeVelle praised his squad’s effort after the final whistle. “It was a gritty and tough performance from the boys,” LeVelle said. “They had to fight and leave it all on the line for the win. It was the best team performance that we could’ve asked for.” With the victory, Columbus East has secured at least a share of the Hoosier Hills Conference championship. The Olympians will have a chance to claim the title outright when they travel to New Albany on Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m. Let's GO O's!!
