Olympians Celebrate Senior Night with Shutout Victory

The Columbus East boys soccer team honored its seniors in style Thursday evening at the BCSC Soccer Complex, rolling to a 9-0 Hoosier Hills Conference win over Jennings County. Before the match, the Olympians recognized seniors Jonathan Sylva, Eli Ostrom, Eduardo Aranda Michel, Amelizon Adeus, Emilio Quintero Aguirre, Ryan Turner, Austin Giles, Cristofer De Dios, and Cristian De Dios for their contributions to the program. On the field, East kept steady control throughout the night and spread the scoring around. Farid Garcia Renterja started things off with a goal, assisted by Emilio Quintero Aguirre. Josh VanValkenburg, Ethan Glick, Quintero Aguirre, and Sylva followed with first-half goals to put the Olympians up 5-0 at halftime. The second half continued much the same way. Turner, Aranda Michel, Adeus, and Ostrom each added goals, with assists coming from Quintero Aguirre, Sylva, Garcia Renterja, and Adeus. The JV team won 7-0 in one half of play. With the win, the Olympians remained unbeaten in HHC play at 4-0. The Olympians are back in action on Saturday September 20th when they host the Batesville Bulldogs at the BCSC Soccer Complex- match time 2 p.m. Then two BIG HHC matches: Tuesday, September 23rd @ Floyd Central and Saturday, September 27th @ New Albany.
