Olympians Battle in Road Test at Seymour

The Columbus East boys tennis team traveled to Seymour High School on Thursday night for a Hoosier Hills Conference matchup, where the Olympians came up short against the Owls in a 5-0 decision. At the top of the singles lineup, Trevor Ernst competed at No. 1 before falling 6-1, 6-0. Kai Bergmann took the court at No. 2 singles and dropped a 6-0, 6-0 match. At No. 3 singles, Landon Redelman pushed his opponent to a decisive third-set tiebreak, but was edged 6-4, 1-6, (10-8). In doubles play, Michael Reed and Micah Wettschrack represented East at No. 1, falling 6-1, 6-2, while the No. 2 pairing of Carson Hartsook and Cooper Harry turned in a competitive effort before coming up short 6-3, 6-2. The Olympians showed fight throughout the lineup and will look to build on their experience as the regular season winds down. Next up for the O's: The Olympians will be back in action on Monday, September 22nd when they compete in the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament. The Olympians will face the Owls once again Monday night. Match time: 5:30 p.m.
