Olympians Battle Hard but Fall in Four to Bulldogs

The Orange Pit was the stage Thursday night as the Columbus East volleyball team hosted New Albany in a Hoosier Hills Conference clash. The Olympians fought through momentum swings and earned a second-set victory to even the match, but the Bulldogs ultimately pulled away for a 3–1 decision. Set scores were 25-20, 17-25, 25-21, 25-14. Payten Osborn set the tone for East with a team-high 17 assists, three aces, and 11 digs, providing steady play on both ends of the floor. Chloe Gill powered the attack with 10 kills, while Anika Jenkins added seven kills and a pair of blocks. Defensively, libero Krea Martin anchored the back row with 24 digs and also contributed an ace. Shelby Sharp distributed 11 assists to go with an ace, while Izzy Rice chipped in six kills. Cadence Smith finished with a block and 10 digs, and both Lilah Klei and Addy Dean added a block apiece. The O's are back on the court Tuesday, September 23rd when they travel to Providence High School to battle the Pioneers. Match time: 7 p.m.
