The Columbus East boys soccer team traveled to Fishers on Saturday afternoon to take on Class 3A No. 4 Tigers. The Olympians competed with energy and toughness but fell 3-1 in the matchup. Fishers opened the scoring just 10 minutes into the contest. East quickly answered when Emilio Quintero Aguirre scored off a setup from Ryan Turner to tie the game. The Olympians stayed even until the closing seconds of the first half, when Fishers slipped in a goal with just 11 seconds left to take a 2-1 lead into the break. In the second half, East continued to press forward and play with intensity, but the Tigers added an insurance goal with 20 minutes remaining to seal the result. The Olympians showed grit in a tough road environment and will now prepare for a busy week at home. Columbus East hosts Franklin Community on Tuesday, September 16, then welcomes Hoosier Hills Conference rival Jennings County on Thursday, September 18. The homestand wraps up Saturday, September 20, with a matchup against Batesville. Good luck Olympians!
