The Columbus East cross-country teams took to the trails Saturday morning at the Brown County High School Eagle Classic, where both the girls and boys squads gained valuable experience against a strong regional field. In the Girls AA race, the Olympians secured 20th place as a team. Ainslee Shaw led the way with a 46th-place finish, clocking 21 minutes, 50.7 seconds. She was followed by Elizabeth Sztaba in 103rd (23:17.8), Abigail Collins in 140th (24:28.5), Brooke Newell in 150th (24:59.6), and Trinity Burns in 163rd (26:00.8). On the boys’ side, East entered four runners, just one short of the five needed to register a team score. Despite that, the Olympians had standout individual performances. Norman Dickson posted an impressive fourth-place finish in 16:36.4, while Elijah Clore was close behind in 13th at 17:07.1. Lorren Westerfeld claimed 49th (18:15.2), and Eion Totten rounded out the East contingent with a 135th-place finish (27:51.6). The meet provided another step in the season’s progression as both teams continue to build toward conference and postseason competition.
