Olympians Take Down Lancers 4-1 at Home

The Columbus East boys tennis team picked up a solid 4-1 victory over the Edinburgh Lancers Tuesday afternoon on their home courts. East showed strong play across the board, earning wins in both singles and doubles. #1 singles Trevor Ernst battled through a tough three-setter, including a narrow super-tiebreak 6-7(2-7), 6-4, and 10-8 , and his teammates helped secure the overall team result. Kai Bergman came through at No. 2 singles with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win, while #3 singles Landon Redelman picked up the 6-0, 6-1 win. In doubles action, the Olympians picked up some great wins. The No. 1 duo of Michael Reed & Michael Wettschurack battled 6-1, 7-6(8-6) for the win, while the No. 2 pair of Leo Rivera and Hadley McQueary fell 0-6, 0-6. “East over Edinburgh 4-1,” head coach Adam Ulrich said. “Had a few mental lapses, but showed some good effort pulling it out.” With the win, the Olympians continue to build confidence early in the season as they prepare for their next opponent, when they host the Brown County Eagles on Wednesday, September 3rd starting at 5 p.m.
