The Columbus East boys soccer team battled crosstown rival Columbus North Thursday night at the BCSC Soccer Complex but came up short in a 2-0 setback. The Olympians were held in check offensively for much of the evening, managing only a handful of shot attempts and just one on target late in the match. Despite the offensive struggles, East stayed within striking distance for most of the contest before the Bulldogs added insurance in the second half. Senior goalkeeper Ryder Meek turned in another busy performance, collecting six saves to keep the Olympians in the game. It marked the third consecutive outing in which East has faced a ranked opponent, following close one-goal losses to Class 3A No. 16 Castle and Bloomington North. Columbus East will look to bounce back and build on the experience gained from a challenging early-season schedule as they continue action Tuesday, September 2nd when they host East Central High School at the BCSC Soccer Complex.
