The Columbus East boys tennis team came away with a tight 3-2 victory Thursday night at Columbus East, earning another strong team win. The Olympians were anchored by dominant singles performances. Freshman Kai Bergman looked sharp at No. 2 singles, posting a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Fellow freshman Landon Redelman was in complete control at No. 3 singles, rolling to a 6-0, 6-0 win. At No. 1 singles, junior Trevor Ernst showed grit and composure. After falling behind a break in the first set, Ernst battled back and took command, closing out the match 6-3, 6-4. Although East came up short in both doubles positions, the teams of Michael Reed and Micah Wettschurack (No. 1 doubles) and Leo Rivera and Carson Hartsook (No. 2 doubles) showed stretches of strong play and continue to make strides together. The Olympians will look to keep their momentum going as they host the Edinburgh Lancers, Tuesday, September 2nd starting at 5 p.m. Good luck O's!!
