The Columbus East girls cross country team took to the course Tuesday evening at CERA Sports Park, facing cross-town rival Columbus North in their annual dual meet. Cooler weather provided strong running conditions, with the Bull Dogs capturing the top 16 spots on their way to a 15-50 team win. Ainslee Shaw and Elizabeth Sztaba led the Olympians, finishing 17th and 18th in 23:19.85 and 23:21.92. Abby Collins followed with a 24th-place finish in 24:53.89, while Trinity Burns placed 27th in 25:45.10 and Brooke Newell was 28th in 25:48.41. The Olympians will continue their early-season schedule with an eye on steady progress and improved times as the fall unfolds. The O's will compete in the Columbus North Classic Invite on Saturday, September 6th starting at 9:30 a.m. at CERA Sports Park.
