Olympians Come Up Just Short in HHC Match at Bedford North Lawrence

The Columbus East boys tennis team went the distance in a hard-fought Hoosier Hills Conference matchup on Monday night but came up just shy, falling 3-2 on the road against Bedford North Lawrence. The Olympians picked up a pair of wins in singles play. At No. 2 singles, Kai Bergmann rallied after dropping the first set to earn a gritty three-set victory, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Landon Redelman also delivered a strong performance at No. 3 singles, battling through a tight opening set before securing a straight-set win, 7-5, 6-3. In other action, Trevor Ernst fought hard at the top singles spot but came up short in a 6-4, 6-2 decision. The doubles courts proved to be the deciding factor, with Michael Reed and Micah Wettschurack dropping a three-set contest at No. 1 doubles after taking the first set. At No. 2 doubles, Carson Hartsook and Cooper Harry fell in straight sets. The Olympians now set their sights on cross-town rival, Columbus North, who they face tonight, Tuesday, August 26th, starting at 4:15 p.m. @ CNHS. Let's Go O's!
