The Columbus East boys tennis team fell 4-1 to Trinity Lutheran at home on Monday evening, but the Olympians showed grit in several hard-fought matches. At No. 2 singles, Landon Redleman secured East’s lone victory, rallying in a three-set battle. After splitting the first two sets, Redleman pulled out a tense third-set tiebreak, winning 10-8. The No. 3 singles match was another thriller, as Kai Bergmann saved two match points in the second set and forced a deciding tiebreak with a dominant 7-1 performance. Despite the momentum shift, Bergmann came up just short in the final set, falling 10-8. At No. 1 singles, Trevor Ernst competed well but was edged in straight sets. In doubles play, Michael Reed and Micah Wettschurack battled at the top spot, while Carson Hartsook and Cooper Harry worked to gain traction at No. 2 doubles. The Olympians (1-1) will look to build on their early-season efforts as they continue to develop consistency across the lineup.
