The Columbus East girls soccer team started the 2025 season in impressive fashion, cruising to a 6-0 victory over Indian Creek on Saturday at the BCSC Soccer Complex. The win also marked a successful debut for new head coach Grace Manning. East wasted no time getting on the board, scoring less than two minutes into the match when senior Natasha Armstrong capitalized on a rebound. From there, the Olympians continued to apply pressure throughout the first half. Cecelia Pollert added to the lead midway through the period, followed quickly by a goal from Emma Christie. Just before halftime, senior Sophie Glick showcased her skill with a long run and finish, sending East into the break with a 4-0 advantage. The second half saw the Olympians maintain their momentum. Glick set up Hannah Weidner for a goal early in the period, and Armstrong secured her second score of the night in the 69th minute to close out the win. Columbus East controlled the match on both ends of the field, finishing with 29 total shots—18 on goal—while limiting the Braves to just three attempts. Goalkeepers Emma Christie and Cara Veach combined for the shutout, with Christie making two early saves before moving to the field. The convincing victory not only gave the Olympians their first win of the season but also set a positive tone moving forward as they look to build on the performance in upcoming matches. The O's hope to keep the momentum going as their back on the pitch Monday, August 20th when they host Franklin Community H.S. at the BCSC Soccer Complex and then on the road Wednesday, August 23rd when they travel to Bloomington North H.S to face the Cougars. Keep it going O's!
