The Columbus East girls cross-country team opened their 2025 season with a strong showing at the Moores Hill Invitational hosted by South Dearborn High School on a early Saturday morning. Despite battling early-season heat, the Olympians finished 2nd overall with 72 points, placing four runners inside the top 20. Freshman-sophomore standout Ainslee Shaw led the way, crossing the line in 7th place with a time of 23:48. She was followed by Abby Collins (12th), Elizabeth Stzaba (14th), and Delaney Rogers (20th), while freshman Brooke Newell rounded out the scoring five in 24th place. Head coach Jesse Shoaf praised the team’s effort, noting the promising start and the work still ahead: “Overall great effort by the entire team for the first meet of the season. Now we put in the work.” The Olympians return to competition on Wednesday, August 20, when they travel to Nashville, Indiana to compete in the always-tough Brown County Challenge Invitational. Racing begins at 5:45 p.m.
