Olympians Set for a Powerful Second Year Under Coach Eagleman After navigating her first year at the helm, Columbus East volleyball head coach Alison Eagleman enters the 2025 season with confidence, experience, and a stronger foundation for success. “Having the first year under my belt is a huge weight off my shoulders,” Eagleman said. “There is so much more than just volleyball that you have to learn during your first year. Coach Ryanne and I had to figure out a lot on our own. This year, we’ve added more coaches, giving us more time to focus on the changes we’re bringing to the program. We’re really focused on one program vs. three separate teams.” The Olympians will benefit from a wave of new talent that arrives with a winning mindset. With more options at key positions, Eagleman is excited about the flexibility this roster provides. “We have some great new talent joining the program this season and they are used to winning. That brings excitement and motivation. These girls are hard workers! This year, we have options in positions that we didn’t have last year that will allow us to play with different line-ups.” Leadership will be a major strength, led by seniors Anika, Chloe, and Lilah, who are expected to be dominant at the net and influential in the locker room. “The three of them will not only be a force during games, but they’ll also lead the underclassmen in drills and competitions during practices,” Eagleman said. The Olympians will also see new leadership in other roles, with Krea taking over the libero position and new setters stepping in to guide the offense. The influx of talent includes 18 freshmen across all levels and sophomore transfer Addy Dean, who will add more firepower to the offense. “We have a lot of new players who are hungry to excel at the high school level,” Eagleman noted. While improving the win column is part of the plan, the Olympians’ main mission is clear: build a lasting culture of success and bring home a sectional title. “Of course we want more wins this season, but our big goal is to win sectionals!” Eagleman believes the team’s biggest strength is its energy and versatility. “What excites me most about this group is their dedicated work ethic and willingness to help the team in any way. We have the ability to mix up our line-ups and still have powerful options. This high energy on the court, and also coming from the bench, will be fun to watch this season!” With a deep roster, veteran leadership, and a coach in her second year ready to push the program forward, the 2025 Olympians are poised to be a force on the court. The Olympians open the regular season with a match at home, Tuesday, August 19th, against the Bloomington North Cougars. JV is slated to start at 6 p.m., with the varsity match to follow. Good luck Olympians!
