HENRYVILLE, IN — The Columbus East boys golf team continued its upward trend on Saturday, posting a team score of 330 to tie for eighth place in the highly competitive Providence Invitational at Champions Pointe Golf Club. The event, hosted by Providence High School, drew several of the state’s top programs and served as a preview for the June 12 IHSAA regional, which will also be held at Champions Pointe G.C. Leading the charge for the Olympians was Carter Greene, who turned in a steady round of 80 to pace the team. Ethan Bumbalough followed close behind with an 82, while Mason Reeves and Luke Rice each carded an 84. Braxton Burton rounded out the scoring with an 85. The Olympians have started to swing the club with more confidence in recent weeks, and their improved form is beginning to show on the leaderboard. Competing against some of the top teams in the state — including invitational champion Evansville North (293), runner-up Center Grove (301), and Franklin (305) — East held its own with a balanced team effort. With the postseason quickly approaching, Columbus East appears to be trending in the right direction and gaining momentum at the right time. The Olympians have one final tuneup before the state tournament begins when they head to a dual match against Fishers High School at Purgatory G.C. in Noblesville, IN. Tuesday, June 3rd starting at 1 p.m. Good luck O's!
