The Columbus East boys track and field team wrapped up its season Thursday night at the IHSAA Regional hosted by Bloomington North High School. Competing against some of the state’s top programs, the Olympians totaled 7.25 team points and placed 22nd. Senior Jared Brooks led East with a strong performance in the discus, placing 6th with a throw of 151 feet, 6 inches, scoring 3 points. He also placed 12th in the shot put, recording a toss of 47 feet, 5.5 inches. Junior Keaton Lawson had a busy night in both field and sprint events. He finished 7th in the long jump with a mark of 20 feet, 4.5 inches to earn 2 points, and tied for 8th in the high jump by clearing 6 feet, scoring 0.25 points. Lawson also ran the second leg on the 4x100 relay, helping the team to a 7th-place finish in 44.55 seconds, good for 2 points. His relay teammates were Brody Miller, Blake Moss, and Kadyn Johnson-Bey. In the 400 meters, senior Austin Menefee finished 9th overall with a time of 51.68 seconds, just missing the scoring positions. Freshman Henry Eickmeyer gained valuable postseason experience in the 300-meter hurdles, placing 15th in 43.87 seconds. In the high jump, sophomore Ryder Meek joined Lawson, clearing 5 feet, 8 inches to place 16th. Meek also was slated to compete in the 4x400 relay with Menefee, Lawson, and Johnson-Bey, but the team did not start the race. Senior Ezekiel Weatherford competed in the pole vault, but was unable to clear the opening height, finishing with no height recorded. Columbus East finished ahead of nine other schools in the team standings, concluding a season that saw steady progress and contributions from both veterans and underclassmen. No Olympians advanced to the state finals, as only the top three finishers in each event or those meeting the IHSAA’s strict state qualifying standards earned advancement. 📊 Full Columbus East Results – 2025 IHSAA Regional at Bloomington North High School: 400 Meters: 9th – Austin Menefee (SR) – 51.68 300 Meter Hurdles: 15th – Henry Eickmeyer (FR) – 43.87 4x100 Relay: 7th – Brody Miller, Keaton Lawson, Blake Moss, Kadyn Johnson-Bey – 44.55 (2 pts) 4x400 Relay: DNS – Kadyn Johnson-Bey, Ryder Meek, Keaton Lawson, Austin Menefee High Jump: 8th – Keaton Lawson (JR) – 6’0” (0.25 pts) 16th – Ryder Meek (SO) – 5’8” Pole Vault: NH – Ezekiel Weatherford (SR) Long Jump: 7th – Keaton Lawson (JR) – 20’4.5” (2 pts) Shot Put: 12th – Jared Brooks (SR) – 47’5.5” Discus: 6th – Jared Brooks (SR) – 151’6” (3 pts) 🏅 Final Team Score: Columbus East – 7.25 points (22nd place) 📎 [Full Meet Results – Regional 7 Boys](https://indiana.tfrrs.org/results/92468/m/IHSAA_Regional_7_Boys?team_hnd=28873)
