Olympians Fall in Regular Season Finale at Bedford, Turn Focus to Sectional Play

BEDFORD NORTH-LAWRENCE H.S. - The Columbus East baseball team wrapped up its 2025 regular season on Memorial Day with a road trip to Bedford, where they faced Hoosier Hills Conference rival Bedford North Lawrence. The host Stars used a six-run third inning to seize control and defeat the Olympians 8-2. East struck early with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning, but BNL answered with a run in the first and then broke things open in the third. The Stars added another run in the fourth and held the Olympians scoreless the rest of the way. Sophomore J.D. Rotert led the Olympians at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double. Senior AJ Tindell added an RBI single, and junior Bige Asher chipped in with a double and a run scored. Despite generating some early momentum, East was held to just four hits on the evening and struck out eight times. On the mound, the Olympians used four pitchers. Senior Drew Rotert gave East two innings of relief, allowing just one earned run. Juniors Ryker Stott and Kaden Arnholt each delivered scoreless stints to finish the game, with Arnholt striking out three in two innings of work. Defensively, Columbus East committed four errors, while Bedford North Lawrence played a clean game in the field. The Olympians now turn their attention to the postseason as they prepare to host the 2025 IHSAA Sectional. Columbus East will take the field Friday night at 6 p.m. to face the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs in opening-round action.
