The Columbus East Olympians were stifled at the plate and couldn't generate any offensive momentum in a 4-0 non-conference loss to the visiting Indian Creek Braves on Tuesday night (5/20). The Braves' dominant pitching performance resulted in a no-hitter, while timely hits in the opening inning gave them all the run support they needed. Indian Creek jumped on the board early, scoring three runs in the top of the first. After a leadoff single and a stolen base, the Braves used a triple and two more singles to take a quick 3-0 lead. A fielder’s choice in the second inning plated their fourth and final run. Columbus East had a few opportunities, drawing four walks and advancing runners into scoring position in both the first and fourth innings. However, the Olympians were unable to deliver a key hit, striking out 13 times against Indian Creek’s starting pitcher, who went the distance in the no-hit effort. East's defense had bright moments, including a double play in the third inning—center fielder Lola Watkins fired to third baseman Baleigh Fish to cut down a runner before shortstop Jade Hampton helped complete the play at second. Pitcher Jacque Boroughs settled in after the first, allowing only one earned run and recording five strikeouts over seven innings. The Olympians must quickly shake off tonight's loss because their right back at it, hosting the Bloomington South Panthers tomorrow night (5/21). First pitch: 5:30 p.m.
