JEFFERSONVILLE HIGH SCHOOL --- The Columbus East softball team picked up a Hoosier Hills Conference win on the road Monday evening, knocking off Jeffersonville 11–4 behind timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and another dominant performance in the circle by Baleigh Fish. The Olympians broke through in the top of the second inning when Lola Watkins drove in the game’s first run with a sharp single. After Jeffersonville tied the game in the bottom half, East responded with a three-run third inning fueled by a key error and a clutch two-RBI grounder from Ariel Darnell. Olympian ace, Baleigh Fish, was steady throughout, allowing just four runs—two earned—while striking out 12 batters and scattering six hits in a complete-game effort. Leading 4–3 after four innings, the Olympians pulled away in the fifth and sixth. Natasha Armstrong sparked the offense with a two-run triple in the sixth, and Thaise Jessup followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 8–3. Jessup finished the day 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Armstrong reached base in all five plate appearances and scored three runs. Watkins added an RBI single in the sixth, and Jessup drove in another run in the seventh to cap the scoring. Fish added three hits of her own at the plate to help her cause. The Olympians will be back in action tonight (weather pending) when they host the Indian Creek Braves, who own a 14-4 season record and are currently 8-0 in their conference. First pitch: 5:30 p.m.
