Tough Semifinal Test for Olympians Girls Tennis Against Floyd Central

The Columbus East girls tennis team battled a strong Floyd Central squad in the semifinals of the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament on Wednesday evening but came up short in a 5-0 defeat. Despite the final score, the Olympians continued to show effort and resilience as they faced one of the top teams in the conference. At No. 1 singles, junior Lauren Degner picked up a game in each set before falling to Katherine Fancher, 6-1, 6-1. Bruna Carreira fought through long rallies at No. 2 singles before dropping her match to Catherine Langdon, 6-0, 6-2. Lilli Smith competed at No. 3 singles, ultimately falling to Charlotte Folger, 6-0, 6-1. In doubles action, Saya Hauser and Zoe White teamed up at No. 1 doubles, while Stefani Christopher and Luci Morales played at No. 2. Both pairs faced polished Floyd Central teams and were defeated in straight sets. Columbus East will look to bounce back when they host the Jennings County Panthers in the 3rd round of the HHC tourney. Match will take place Friday, May 16th, starting at 4:30 p.m. at Columbus East Tennis Complex.
