The Columbus East boys volleyball team wasted no time asserting dominance Thursday night, dismantling Warren Central in straight sets with a powerful all-around performance inside the Orange Pit. Fueled by urgency and energy from the opening serve, the Olympians raced out to early leads in every set, cruising to a 25-17, 25-13, 25-18 victory. The team’s aggression and fast pace were evident throughout the night, as every player on the roster saw action and made contributions. Columbus East made sure the tone was set early. In the first set, a relentless scoring stretch pushed them ahead 21-8, leaving the Warriors scrambling to respond. The second set was even more one-sided, with East jumping out to a 15-4 lead before closing it out with ease. By the third, the outcome was already clear, but the Olympians maintained focus and closed the door with a 16-7 start en route to the sweep. With the win, East improves to 11-15 on the season and bounces back from a tough loss earlier in the week. The dominant showing served as a confidence boost heading into the final stretch of the season. Next up, the Olympians return to the Orange Pit on Saturday for a Round Robin event featuring Greenwood, Jennings County, and Bloomington South. The action begins at noon and marks the final regular season appearance before postseason play begins May 15 in the Franklin Sectional against Whiteland. Match time: 8 p.m. If Thursday was any indication, the Olympians are ready to make noise when it matters most.
