Columbus East Tennis Comes Up Short at Shelbyville

SHELBYVILLE — The Columbus East girls tennis team hit the road Tuesday night, but couldn’t find momentum in a tough 5-0 loss to host Shelbyville. The Golden Bears controlled all five courts, winning each match in straight sets. At No. 1 singles, Lauren Degner battled but fell 6-1, 6-1. Lilli Smith dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 2 singles, and Zoe White came up short at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0. In doubles play, Luci Morales and Saya Hauser lost 6-3, 6-0 at the top spot. At No. 2 doubles, Lucy Destin and Desirie Ross were defeated 6-0, 6-0. The Olympians (0-4) continue to search for their first win of the season and will look to regroup Thursday night, April 17th, when they host Hoosier Hills Conference opponent, the Seymour Owls.
