Hope, Ind. — The Columbus East softball team flipped the script in dramatic fashion Monday evening, erupting for 13 unanswered runs over the final four innings to claim a 15-8 road win over Hauser. Trailing 8-2 after three innings, the Olympians (4-1) methodically chipped away at the deficit, sparked by a four-run fifth inning that swung momentum in their direction. The breakthrough came in the seventh, when East capitalized on a Hauser fielding error and unleashed a nine-run outburst to complete the comeback. Jacque Boroughs set the final rally in motion by reaching base to start the seventh. From there, Columbus East strung together quality at-bats and took advantage of opportunities, including a key go-ahead hit to right field by Daisy Logan. Logan later crossed the plate herself to help extend the lead. Thaise Jessup added a double to right-center during the rally, contributing to the offensive explosion. Earlier in the game, East had shown flashes at the plate but saved its biggest impact for the late innings. On the mound, Raegyn Foster started for the Olympians, going 3 1/3 innings and allowing eight runs on 10 hits with one strikeout. Boroughs came on in relief and was effective, shutting down Hauser over the final 3 2/3 innings to pick up the win. After a shaky start, Columbus East settled in defensively and closed out the game with sharper execution. The turnaround was a clear sign of the team’s composure and ability to adjust as the game unfolded. The win keeps the Olympians rolling through the early portion of the season, and they’ll look to keep that momentum going with more consistent play as they host Greenfield-Central on Thursday (4/17) at Olympian Field, Saturday (4/19) on the road at Mt. Vernon(Fortville) H.S., and host the Bulldogs of Columbus North on Monday, April 21st
