Columbus East Track Teams Split Season Opener with Seymour

Columbus, IN – April 8, 2025 The Columbus East track and field teams kicked off their season Tuesday night at the Fire Pit, hosting the Seymour Owls. The Olympian girls took the win with an 80-48 victory, while the boys faced a tough 82-50 defeat. Girls' Team Highlights: Carsyn Schlehuser: Took first in the high jump (4'8") and the 100-meter dash (13.45 seconds). Sophie Glick: Won the long jump (13'11") and the 400-meter dash (1:05.35). Kai Scott: Led the hurdles events, winning the 100-meter hurdles (17.62 seconds) and the 300-meter hurdles (52.32 seconds). Grace McMahan: Dominated the discus with a throw of 108'4". The girls also clinched victories in the 4×100-meter relay (52.45 seconds) and the 4×400-meter relay (4:34.53). Boys' Team Highlights: Jared Brooks: Secured wins in both the shot put (42'5.5") and the discus (144'3"). Keaton Lawson: Achieved first place in the high jump (6'0") and the long jump (20'0"). Isaac Fields: Captured the 110-meter hurdles title with a time of 18.99 seconds. Trace Mulchay: Won the 100-meter dash, finishing in 11.51 seconds. Despite the boys' team facing a challenging meet, individual performances showcased the team's potential for the season ahead. The Olympians are set to build on these results as they prepare for their next meet.
