Freshman O’s Put the ‘D’ in Domination, Clinch HHC Freshman Title with Win Over New Albany The Columbus East freshman boys' basketball team continues to be a nightmare for opposing offenses. Fueled by another suffocating defensive effort, the O’s locked down New Albany for a 40-30 victory, staying perfect at 18-0 and securing the freshman Hoosier Hills Conference (HHC) title with a spotless 5-0 conference record. East wasted no time setting the tone, using their signature pressure defense to build an early 8-point lead by the end of the first quarter. New Albany managed to keep it closer in the second frame, but the O’s still held a 22-11 halftime advantage and never looked back. While the defense stole the spotlight, East also dominated the glass, with Carson Gallion, Kam Robertson, and Josiah Kiel leading the rebounding effort. Their relentless work on the boards ensured the Bulldogs never gained momentum. Now, with the regular season in the books, the undefeated O’s turn their attention to the four-team tournament in Seymour on Feb. 15, where they'll face Bedford, Jennings County, and Seymour in pursuit of even more hardware. Scoring Leaders Carson Gallion – 12 Jacob Thomas – 11 Kam Robertson – 9 Josiah Kiel – 7 Daelyn Diaz – 1 One game at a time, one defensive stand at a time, the Freshman O’s keep proving that they’re the real deal. Can they finish off a perfect season? We’ll find out soon enough.
