Columbus East Wrestling Advances Nine to Semi-State After Strong Regional Performance

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – The Columbus East wrestling team delivered a stellar performance at the 2025 IHSAA Wrestling Regional on Saturday at Jeffersonville High School, finishing as the runner-up in the team standings and advancing all nine of its competing wrestlers to next weekend’s semi-state tournament at the Ford Center in Evansville. The Olympians amassed 129 team points, finishing second only to Franklin Community (143.5). Columbus North (115.5), Indian Creek (111), and Switzerland County (86.5) rounded out the top five. Olympians' Top Performers Columbus East saw three wrestlers claim regional championships, with Gage Rutan (132), Lincoln Cooper (150), and Colin McMahon (190) each securing individual titles. Rutan and Cooper dominated their weight classes, earning multiple wins by fall and technical fall, while McMahon showcased his skills with a decisive championship victory. Other notable finishes included Hank Redman (175), who took second place, and Caleb Kirkpatrick (138) and Aiden Miller (157), who battled back to secure third-place finishes. Clayton Miller (165), James Moss (215), and Dominic Piper (285) each earned fourth-place finishes to punch their tickets to semi-state. A top-four finish in each weight class at semi-state will earn wrestlers a trip to the IHSAA State Finals in Indianapolis.
