The Columbus East freshman boys basketball team kept their undefeated season alive in dramatic fashion Tuesday night, clawing back from multiple deficits to edge out Bloomington South, 52-49. Trailing for most of the game, the Olympians found themselves down 8-14 after the first quarter and 22-26 at halftime. Things got even tougher in the third, as East fell behind by as much as nine before a momentum-shifting 10-2 run, sparked by Daelyn Diaz, who scored and assisted on eight straight points. With three minutes left in the fourth, East still trailed 42-47. But the O’s refused to let their perfect record slip away, closing the game on another 10-2 run to seal the victory. Josiah Kiel was relentless on defense, leading the charge with hustle plays that helped turn the tide in East’s favor. The win pushes the Olympians to 16-0 on the season. They’ll look to keep the streak alive with two home matchups later this week—against Providence tomorrow (2/6) and New Albany (2/8) on Saturday. Scoring Leaders: Carson Gallion – 14 Kam Robertson – 11 Daelyn Diaz – 10 Josiah Shelton – 7 Josiah Kiel – 5 Cadyn Goodlow – 3 Jacob Thomas – 2 You can watch a replay of the CEHS vs. BSHS game here: https://www.youtube.com/live/Y_Nh2U6PrZI?si=GnHZiL5WpOiW3APQ
