The Columbus East freshman boys basketball team continues to turn heads with their dominant play, and Wednesday night was no exception. In a midweek standalone game on the main court in the Orange Pit, the undefeated East frosh took on the visiting Center Grove Trojans and delivered yet another statement win, cruising to a 52-22 victory. It wasn’t all smooth sailing early on, as East found itself trailing 5-4 at the end of the first quarter. However, what followed was nothing short of remarkable. The Olympians erupted for a staggering 30-0 run that spanned nearly two full quarters, flipping the game on its head and building a commanding 34-8 lead entering the final period. The defensive effort was spearheaded by Terran Degraffenreid and Josiah Kiel, as the East defense clamped down and held Center Grove scoreless for nearly two quarters. Meanwhile, the offense found its rhythm in a big way. Carson Gallion, Daelyn Diaz, and Keatin Roberts led a scorching offensive attack that shot over 50% from the field, leaving no doubt about the outcome. With the win, Columbus East improves to a perfect 13-0 on the season and looks to keep their momentum rolling when they host East Central this Friday at 6 p.m. in the Aux Gym at the Orange Pit. Scoring Leaders: Daelyn Diaz - 12 Carson Gallion - 9 Josiah Kiel - 7 Keatin Roberts - 7 Jacob Thomas - 5 Connor Rodarte - 4 Kam Robertson - 3 Jax Branaman - 3 Terran Degraffenreid - 2
