Olympians Show Fight in Road Loss to Mooresville

The Columbus East girls basketball team put forth a competitive effort on Tuesday night but came up short against a strong Mooresville squad (15-7), falling 67-46 in a regular-season road matchup. The Olympians faced an uphill battle early as the Pioneers jumped out to a 22-6 lead after the first quarter. However, East settled in and found more offensive rhythm as the game progressed, putting up 11 points in the second quarter and finishing with their highest-scoring half of the night after the break. Ella Anthis led the Olympians with a standout 19-point performance, while Kenzie Cheek added 8. Kimberley Carothers and Lucy Ross each contributed 5 points, Averie Graham also finished with 5, Krea Martin added 3, and Jadalynn Hampton scored 2. The Olympians will now have one day to prepare for their last regular season game against Cathedral High School on Thursday, January 30th. JV starts at 6:30 p.m., with the varsity game to follow. It's also Senior Night - festivities for Senior Night will take place immediately following the JV game.
