Columbus East Boys Basketball Faces Tough Weekend in Back-to-Back Losses Columbus East High School's boys basketball team endured a challenging weekend, dropping two hard-fought games against formidable opponents. Despite the setbacks, the Olympians have showcased moments of good game play and resilience as they navigated this stretch of their season. On Friday night, the Olympians faced Bloomington South on the road and fell 66-50. The O's started slowly in the 1st quarter and could never recover from their slow start. Carter Patterson delivered an impressive performance, leading his team with 22 points. Keaton Lawson also contributed significantly, adding 15 points to the scoreboard. The game highlighted some bright spots but underscored the difficulty of competing on the road against a seasoned Bloomington South squad. The team returned to action on Saturday night against the Seymour Owls in a Hoosier Hills Conference matchup. After starting the season strong at 9-1, Columbus East (9-4) suffered its third loss in five days, dropping the game 57-42. Patterson once again led the Olympians with 17 points, while Lawson chipped in 13. Grayson Watters added seven points, reflecting the team’s effort to stay competitive against a tough Owls lineup. While back-to-back losses are never easy, Columbus East has shown determination throughout the season. The team still holds a solid record, and these games provide valuable experience as they prepare for the challenges ahead. With standout performances from players like Patterson and Lawson, the Olympians remain a team to watch as they aim to bounce back and regain their winning form. The Olympians have a few days to regroup before hosting last years 3A state champions, the Scottsburg Warriors on Friday January 24th and will then host class 4A Top 15 team the Jeffersonville Red Devils on Saturday, January 25th. The upcoming games will test their resilience, but the Olympians have the talent and tenacity to turn the tide and finish the season on a strong note. Fans can look forward to seeing how this dedicated squad responds to adversity in their pursuit of continued success.
