The Columbus East boys and girls swimming and diving teams competed in the Shelbyville Relays on Saturday morning, with the boys delivering a standout performance to claim victory, while the girls finished sixth with strong showings in several events. Boys Team Highlights The boys team showcased their depth and teamwork, winning multiple events: - 400-Yard Medley Relay: Todd Hundley, Misha Machavariani, Josh Pendleton, and Keaton Stephenson captured first with a time of 2:48.25. - 400 Freestyle Relay: Hundley, Machavariani, Pendleton, and Stephenson struck gold again, clocking in at 3:25.78. - 150 Butterfly Relay: Pendleton, Eli Isaacs, and Machavariani combined for the win with a time of 1:16.19. - 150 Breaststroke Relay: Ethan Hall, Pendleton, and Machavariani finished first in 1:31.32. Girls Team Highlights The Olympian girls displayed resilience and teamwork, earning fourth-place finishes in three events: - 375 Freestyle Relay: Ella Thompson, Delaney Rogers, Ainslee Shaw, and Cassidy Furnish finished in 4:40.81. - 200 Freestyle Relay: Baylee Benefield, Savannah Burton, Connelly Fornish, and Cassidy Furnish recorded a time of 2:06.20. - 150 Backstroke Relay: Burton, Cassidy Furnish, and Hannah Dean finished with a time of 1:49.20. The Olympians will now prepare for cross-town rivalry week as they travel the short distance to Columbus North High School to take on the Bulldogs on Tuesday, December 17th. Meet time: 5:30 p.m.
