Olympians battle Shelbyville in the Pool

The Columbus East Girls and Boys Swim & Dive teams hosted the Shelbyville Golden Bears Thursday night at the H2O’s Aquatic Complex. The evening saw the Olympians dominate the boys' meet with a decisive 128-52 victory, while the Golden Bears edged out the girls, winning 103-69. This was the first meet of the season for Columbus East boys team. Boys Make a Splash with Win! The Olympian boys' team showcased their talent, racking up several first-place finishes. Keaton Stephenson led the charge with standout performances, winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.57) and the 100 freestyle (50.21). Josh Pendleton added to the team's success with victories in the 200 individual medley (2:05.37) and the 500 freestyle (4:56.75). Misha Machavariani also delivered impressive results, capturing the 100 butterfly (54.55) and 100 breaststroke (1:05.54). Other individual event winners included Ethan Kessler in the 50 freestyle (31.36), Gavin Day in diving (270.20), and Todd Hundley in the 100 backstroke (59.28). The Olympians swept the relay events, taking first in the 200 medley (1:44.31), 200 freestyle (1:42.09), and 400 freestyle (3:30.99). Golden Bears Edge Out Girls in Close Contest: The girls' team fought hard but fell short against Shelbyville. Cassidy Furnish led the way for East, winning the 200 freestyle (2:19.70) and the 500 freestyle (6:13.64). Connelly Furnish also earned a victory for the Olympians in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:19.05 time.
