Olympians Shine Bright: Columbus East Girls Wrestling Wins Purdue Polytechnic Invitational

The Columbus East Olympian girls wrestling team had a BIG day, capturing the team title at the Purdue Polytechnic Invitational on Saturday. Competing against a strong field, the Olympians showcased grit and determination, securing several top finishes. Top Performances Lead the Way- The Olympians were led by champions Saige Plummer (120 pounds) and Monica McMahon (190 pounds), who both delivered dominant 4-0 performances. Their hard-fought victories set the tone for the team's overall success. Grace McMahon (170 pounds) and Maddie Shrader (235 pounds) also delivered standout performances, each earning runner-up finishes in their respective weight classes. At 100 pounds, Tienica Dits claimed second place with a 2-1 record. Eden Knight (145 pounds) fought her way to a third-place finish, going 5-1 on the day, while Madison Mount (130 pounds) and Maddie Swartzentruber (135 pounds) showcased their resilience with seventh- and sixth-place finishes, respectively. Issabel Wakefield (140 pounds) also contributed with a sixth-place result, and Elaina Burton (125 pounds) rounded out the team effort with an eighth-place finish. Team Effort Yields Big Results: The Olympians' depth and balance across weight classes proved pivotal in their tournament victory. The team’s impressive start signals a promising season ahead for the newly sanctioned program.
