Columbus East Girls Basketball Fights Hard in Close Game Against Roncalli

The Columbus East girls basketball team took on a tough matchup on Tuesday night, traveling to Roncalli High School to face the Royals. The Olympians showed grit and fire, keeping the game competitive from start to finish but ultimately fell short, with the Royals taking the win 65-55. The Olympians got off to a strong start, leading 14-10 by the end of the first quarter. By halftime, they trailed by only six points, down 33-27, showing their ability to keep pace with Roncalli's aggressive play. Lola Watkins led the Olympians in scoring with an impressive 17 points, thanks to four three-pointers, two field goals, and a free throw. She was backed by Kimberley Carothers, who added 12 points with consistent shooting. Kenzie Cheek and Ella Anthis each contributed solid performances, with Anthis hitting two three-pointers to add to her eight points on the night. They’ll host East Central High School’s Trojans on Wednesday, November 20th. The JV game tips off at 6:30 p.m., with the varsity contest set to start at 7:30 p.m.
