Columbus East Volleyball Battles Nationally-Ranked Roncalli, Krea Martin Surpasses 1,000 Career Assists

The Columbus East volleyball team traveled to Indianapolis to face a formidable challenge against the Roncalli Royals, ranked #5 nationally and #3 in the state of Indiana according to MaxPreps. Despite a strong effort, the Olympians fell to the undefeated Royals, 25-17, 25-17, 25-18. Sophomore setter Krea Martin led the way for Columbus East with 15 assists, 13 digs, and two aces. Martin’s performance was highlighted by her surpassing 1,000 career assists—a remarkable achievement early in her high school career. Kimberly Carothers contributed six kills and two solo blocks, while Anika Jenkins recorded five kills, five solo blocks, and eight assist blocks. Addison Emery added eight digs, and Jenna Thomas chipped in with one ace. While the Olympians weren’t able to break Roncalli’s perfect 27-0 record, their effort and Martin’s career milestone were bright spots in a tough match.
