Highlanders Slip Past Olympians 1-0 in HHC Showdown

The Columbus East boys soccer team suffered a tough 1-0 loss to the Floyd Central Highlanders on Tuesday night at the BCSC Soccer Complex. Floyd Central scored early in the first half, but the Olympians nearly equalized just before halftime when Emilio Quintero Aguirre’s free kick was denied by a diving save from the Highlanders’ goalkeeper. Floyd Central outshot the Olympians, putting nine shots on goal compared to East's single shot. Ryder Meek stood tall in goal for East, recording eight saves to keep the game close. The Olympians are back in action Saturday, September 28th when they host the New Albany Bulldogs at the BCSC soccer Complex. Match time: 11:30 a.m.
