The Columbus East softball team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning against Hoosier Hills conference opponent the Jennings County Panthers and held that lead until the bottom of the 6th, when the Panthers scored two runs of the own, tying the game 2-2 going into the final inning. Lola Watkins hit a single in the top of the 7th and she then proceeded to steal 2nd base, but the Olympians couldn't bring in Watkins in for the go-ahead run home. Unfortunately for the O's, Jennings was able to get their lead off batter on base, who promptly stole second, and after a strikeout by next Jennings batter, a single by the next Panther batter drove in the game winning run and the 3-2 win over the Olympians. O's Pitching - Hermione Robinson threw 6.1 innings, giving up three earned runs, no walks, 6 hits, and TEN strikeouts. O's Batting - The O's had 8 hits, but stranded 7 runners on base. Watkins: 1-3, stolen base Sullivan: 1-4, stolen base Fish: 1-4 Ross: 2-3, RBI Robinson: 1-3, double Armstrong: 1-2, BB Logan: 1-3, stolen base The Olympians are back in action Friday evening as they host another HHC opponent, the Bedford North-Lawrence Stars(7-9-1).
