The Columbus East Olympians and the Columbus North Bulldogs put on a thrilling display of softball Monday night at the Columbus North softball complex. Despite a tied game going into the 10th inning, the Bulldogs managed to secure a 2-1 victory over the Olympians by capitalizing on the O's only error of the night. Pitching was the highlight of the game, with both teams' pitchers delivering standout performances. Hermoine Robinson of the O's showcased her talent, allowing just 8 hits throughout the evening. She struck out an impressive 13 Bulldog batters, walked only one, and conceded just one earned run. Notably, Robinson's precision was remarkable, throwing 161 pitches, with an astounding 76% of them being strikes. Although the Olympians demonstrated discipline at the plate by drawing six walks, their hitting fell short, managing only one hit and leaving six runners stranded on base. Mackenzie Hampton secured the sole hit of the evening, while Baleigh Fish drew 3 walks, and Raegyn Foster, H. Robinson, and Natasha Armstrong each earned a walk. Additionally, H. Robinson, Lilly Tindell, and N. Armstrong contributed stolen bases. Looking ahead, the Olympians face a challenging week with four tough opponents lined up over the next four days. Fortunately, all four games will be held at home for the Olympians. They'll square off against HHC opponent Floyd Central on Wednesday, April 17th, followed by matchups against HHC member the Seymour Owls on Thursday, Shelbyville Golden Bears on Friday, and a Saturday double-header against Franklin Community. Best of luck to the Olympians as they tackle this demanding schedule!
