It's a HIT! New Olympian softball complex host scrimmage

The Columbus East Olympian softball team has eagerly awaited the chance to step onto their brand-new softball field all year long. Last night, that anticipation turned into exhilarating reality as the Olympians welcomed the Brown County Eagles for an IHSAA-sanctioned scrimmage. The atmosphere was electric with excitement, both on the field and in the stands, as players and fans alike reveled in the beauty of the new complex. Though no "official" score was kept, the game provided some impressive highlights. Hermonie Robinson kicked off the action by pitching a stellar first inning for East, facing 10 batters and retiring them all, striking out an impressive seven. In the following inning, sophomore Reagan Foster took the mound, facing another 10 batters and keeping them off the scoreboard, allowing just one hit. Among the standout moments was a remarkable home run by freshman Jade Hampton, showcasing the team's promising talent. Additionally, freshman Lola Watkins made her mark, going one for two at bat and drawing a walk. While the final score was unofficial, the Olympians scored five runs for the evening. It was a thrilling start to the season, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting journey ahead! Let's go Olympians! Looking forward, Columbus East softball is gearing up for their regular-season opener against Edinburgh High School on Tuesday, March 26th, with the first pitch set for 5:30 p.m. It's sure to be another exciting chapter in what is shaping up to be a memorable season for the team.
