Columbus East High School

Columbus East's Gavin Day placed 11th in the State Championship in the 1-meter diving competition. Gavin scored 422.65 points in the finals. The winner, Ethan Stewart, from Hamiliton Heights, scored 585.75 points. Congratulations to Gavin Day!! Swimming: The 200-yard medley relay team just missed making it to the consolation finals. The 400 freestyle team relay team (Stilson, Stephenson, Machavariani, and Nickoll) did advance to the consolation finals with a 3:12.34 time, breaking their own record set in the Sectional finals. This same team finished 15th in the State with a time of 3:12.92, but learned the team was disqualified because of an early start off the starting blocks which DQ'd the team. Despite this setback, the Olympians performed exceptionally well this past weekend!
