The boy's swimming & diving H2Olympians placed 3rd in Saturday's IHSAA Sectional at Columbus North High School. CEHS diver Gavin Day blew away the competition, outpacing the next diver by 77 points with a score 446.80. Gavin's first place finish guarantees him a spot in the IHSAA Diving Regionals on Tuesday, February 20th. The swimmers had a great day as well, setting four more school records with Keaton Stephenson's 200 yard freestyle(1:45.08), Misha Machavariana's 52.33 in the 100 butterfly, 21.87 in the 50 freestyle for Cavan Stilson, and the quartet of Stilson, Stephenson, Machavariana, and Judah Nickoll in the 400 freestyle. The Olympian swimmers are waiting for "call-backs" to see if their times are the next-best 12 times from all 20 sectional winners. If "called back" they will advance to next weekend's State Finals @ Indiana University Natatorium on February 23rd & 24th. Columbus East swim coach, Doug Trueblood, was also named Coach of the Year for Sectional 17. Great job Coach Trueblood! OUTSTANDING JOB OLYMPIANS!
