Columbus East High School

The Columbus East Girls swimming and diving team placed 5th in the 14 team IHSAA Sectional at East Central High School. The Olympians scored 228 points. Sectional final results are attached. (pdf) Columbus East diver, Gabbie Meier, scored 408.00 points to claim her 4th straight sectional diving title and will participate in the Jasper Diving Regionals in Jasper, IN on February 6th. The Olympians' Connelly Furnish nailed the second spot in both the 200 IM (2:14.63) and 500 freestyle (5:17.50). Ali Trueblood rocked a solid fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.15), while Cassidy Furnish snagged the sixth spot in the 500 freestyle (5:37.85). Kira VanValkenburg secured the seventh position in the 200 IM (2:32.04), and Abby Proffitt rounded it off with eighth in the 500 freestyle (5:51.86). The Olympians crushed it with a second place in the 400 freestyle relay (3:50.80) and a respectable fifth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:45.98). They also tied for fifth in the 200 medley relay, clocking in at 2:05.85.
