In a challenging matchup against the 4A #13 team in the state, the Silver Creek Dragons, the Columbus East Olympians displayed unwavering determination in the Orange Pit on Tuesday night. Despite predictions favoring Silver Creek, the Olympians went toe-to-toe with their formidable opponents throughout all four quarters. The Olympians maintained a lead for the majority of the game, but a late 4th quarter surge by Silver Creek, including crucial free throws, secured a narrow six-point victory for the Dragons, with a final score of 50-44. Silver Creek's full-court trapping press in the 4th quarter caused turnovers for the Olympians, ultimately giving the Dragons control of the game. Although the outcome wasn't what the Olympians had hoped for on Senior Night, the effort and contributions from each senior—Savanna Sullivan, Victoria Cuhadar, Messiah Trapp, Caroline Frost, Madleyn Poe, and Jenna Guse—were commendable. The seniors played a vital role in the team's spirited battle throughout the evening. With little time to rest, the Olympians gear up for another challenge, heading to Cathedral High School on Thursday night(1/25) for the last game of the regular season. JV tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m., followed by the varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m. Looking ahead to IHSAA Sectional basketball, the Olympians are set to open against the winner of the East Central/Whiteland matchup on Friday, February 2nd, at 6 p.m. at Whiteland High School. Stats for the game highlight Caroline Frost's impressive performance with 20 points, including 3-5 from beyond the arc. The Olympians finished the game with a shooting record of 17-40 from the field, 6-10 from 3-point range, and 4-8 from the free-throw line.
